About Flexnergy™β-Alanine
Flexnergy™β-Alanine is a non-protein amino acid produced by the liver or obtained from dietary sources. In the body, Flexnergy™β-Alanine can react with L-histidine under the catalytic action of carnosine synthase to form carnosine. It serves as a limiting amino acid in the synthesis of carnosine, making it a well-received supplement among the athletic community for enhancing sports performance.
Functions

Enhancement of athletic performance
After entering the body, Flexnergy™β-Alanine typically has a half-life of around 25 minutes and reaches peak plasma concentrations after 30-40 minutes, returning to baseline levels within 3 hours. Compared to histidine, β-Alanine exhibits a lower catalytic constant (Km) for carnosine synthase, making it a key precursor that directly influences the rate of carnosine synthesis in the body. Carnosine contains imidazole groups in its structure, and its acid-base coefficient (pKa = 6.83) is closer to the physiological range, making it more readily activated during high-intensity exercise, leading to the following effects: (1) lactate degradation, acid-base regulation, and prevention of muscle acidosis; (2) release of regulatory factors to promote energy metabolism; (3) enhancement of athletic performance; (4) strengthening of immune function and antioxidant capacity.
