Recruitment Announcement for Director of Anhui Provincial Laboratory of Synthetic Biology (in preparation)

The Anhui Provincial Laboratory of Synthetic Biology (in preparation) (hereinafter referred to as the "Laboratory") is a provincial-level key laboratory established and operated by AHB under the guidance of the Anhui Provincial Department of Science and Technology. The Laboratory aims to leverage artificial intelligence in the design and screening of microbial strains, proteins, and enzymes, build a pilot platform for microbial synthesis and biomanufacturing research validation, and focus on developing key products to secure industrial leadership. By prioritizing applied technology development to drive foundational research and platform tool development, the Laboratory strives to achieve independent control over core technologies and industrial supply chains. We now invite global applications for the position of Laboratory Director.



1. Job Responsibilities

1. Formulate the Laboratory’s long-term development strategy and research direction, lead groundbreaking research in synthetic biology, and establish/maintain the Laboratory’s leading position in global academic and industrial communities.

2. Oversee the management of scientific research projects, including planning, proposal submission, implementation supervision, and project closure, while driving the delivery and commercialization of major research outcomes.

3. Recruit and cultivate high-level scientific talent, build an innovative and well-structured research team, foster a collaborative academic environment, and promote knowledge exchange among team members.

4. Strengthen collaborations with domestic and international universities, research institutions, and enterprises to advance industry-academia-research integration and accelerate the industrialization of research achievements.

5. Establish and refine Laboratory regulations, ensure safety management, equipment maintenance, and upgrades, and guarantee efficient daily operations.



2. Qualifications

1. Distinguished academic achievements in synthetic biology or related fields, with significant influence and recognition in the discipline.

2. Deep understanding of synthetic biology trends, ability to identify strategic research directions, and experience leading cutting-edge projects. Preference given to candidates with experience managing national-level major research projects.

3. Strong organizational, coordination, and communication skills to integrate resources, promote team innovation, and build partnerships across academia and industry.

4. Ph.D. in biology, bioengineering, biochemistry, chemistry, or related disciplines from a globally renowned university or research institution.

5. Age not exceeding 50 years (exceptions may be made for exceptionally qualified candidates).



3. Appointment Terms, Compensation, and Benefits

1. 6-month probationary period, followed by a 5-year term (renewable based on performance).

2. Competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Benefits include social insurance, housing fund, paid annual leave, health checkups, and educational support for children.

3. Ample research funding from government and corporate sources, along with fully equipped laboratory facilities and office space.

4. Support for domestic and international academic exchanges to enhance professional development and academic influence.
