Succinic acid, also known as succinic acid, is listed by the U.S. Department of Energy as one of the 12 most valuable platform compounds in the future. It is widely used in plastics, fibers, coatings, pharmaceuticals, food and other fields. Traditional petroleum-based succinic acid uses maleic anhydride as raw material, and its production process is accompanied by a large amount of greenhouse gas emissions and the need to treat three wastes. AHB has achieved large-scale mass production of bio-based succinic acid, which uses renewable resources such as corn and starch as raw materials, breaking away from the traditional energy and industrial system that uses non-renewable resources such as coal, oil and natural gas as the main fuel and raw materials, and bringing a lower-carbon and sustainable choice to global customers.
In recent years, the problem of white pollution has become a global environmental problem. With the tightening of global environmental protection policies, the introduction of the "Plastic Restriction Order" has brought polybutylene succinate (PBS) into people's vision as a substitute for solving plastic waste environmental pollution. PBS can be decomposed by a variety of microorganisms in nature and enzymes in animals and plants, and finally decomposed into carbon dioxide and water. It is a biodegradable plastic with excellent performance and can be used in packaging, tableware, cosmetic bottles, agricultural films and biomedical polymer materials. AHB bio-based succinic acid provides important raw material support for the manufacture of biodegradable plastics. Its application in PBS will make an important contribution to promoting sustainable development and plastic pollution control.
At the same time, bio-based succinic acid can produce bio-based 1,4-butanediol (BDO) through esterification and hydrogenation. Succinic acid and BDO are both core raw materials for the production of PBS. As an important basic chemical raw material for spandex, biodegradable materials, new energy battery industry and thermoplastic elastomer industries, BDO is ushering in a new growth point in the industry.
In addition to degradable plastic products, succinic acid is also widely used in the manufacture of coatings, paints, fibers, pharmaceuticals and other fields. For example, downstream dimethyl succinate (DMS) is an important intermediate and organic solvent that can be used to synthesize hindered amine light stabilizers. Succinic acid can also be used to manufacture pharmaceuticals, such as the synthesis of vitamin A and sulfonamides. With the increasing popularity of green environmental protection concepts, bio-based succinic acid has gradually become an important choice to replace petroleum-based succinic acid.
AHB has established a technical research and development chain of "industrial strains-fermentation and extraction-product application", and has formed a complete technical leading advantage in the creation of industrial strains, intelligent control of the fermentation process, efficient post-extraction, and product application development. It has a good basic condition for the industrialization of fermentation-based production of succinic acid.
AHB adheres to the model of combining independent research and development with open innovation, integrates global scientific and technological innovation resources, realizes seamless connection of "technology-production-market", and creates green bio-based products for customers with innovative technology. In the future, the successful commissioning of AHB bio-based new material monomer series project will help my country's materials industry transform to biomanufacturing and make important contributions to global environmental protection.
